Michael (Mike) Lee is Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Commercial Banking at Santander Bank, N.A. (SBNA). Mike is responsible for strategy and oversight of all SBNA’s Commercial Banking businesses in the U.S., including Commercial Real Estate Construction Lending, Community Development Finance and Investments, Commercial Equipment and Vehicle Finance, International Banking, Middle Market Lending, Multifamily Term Lending, Not-for-Profit and Government Banking, and Treasury and Deposit banking, as well as all business services supporting those verticals.

In addition, Mike serves as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Member of a Santander joint venture with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Santander owns 20% of the joint venture and services 100% of a $9 billion portfolio of New York-based, multifamily real estate assets formerly owned by Signature Bank.

Mike joined Santander in 2009 following its acquisition of Sovereign Bank. He has more than four decades of financial services industry experience, including executive positions with Bank Boston and FleetBoston Financial, with the majority of his career in lending and risk roles.

Throughout his career, Mike has served on numerous civic and community boards. He is currently a member of the Massachusetts Business Roundtable, Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, Rhode Island Bankers Association, American Bankers Association Real Estate Committee, and he is a trustee of La Salle Academy. He and his wife are past chairs of the Rhode Island Governor’s Ball, Hasbro Children’s Hospital Ball, RI Bishop’s Ball, and Take Flight Gala.

Mike earned a B.S. in Accounting and M.B.A. from Providence College. He remains active with the school as a member of the Providence College President’s Council.
