David Hermer joined Santander in August of 2023 as the Head of Santander Corporate & Investment Banking US and was appointed Directing Officer of Banco Santander SA New York Branch in January of 2024.

Prior to joining Santander US, David has more than 30 years of experience in investment banking, having spent significant time in senior roles at Credit Suisse (CS). Since 2015, he was the Global Head of Equity Capital Markets, and he added Global Head of Debt Capital Markets responsibilities in 2020. He was also a member of the Global Investment Banking Management Committee, the Equity Valuation Committee, the Reputational Risk Committee, and the Managing Director Promotion Committee.

David joined CS in 1994 and focused primarily on equity products, running US Equity Syndicate, Global Equity Syndicate, and then US and Global Equity Capital Markets while also serving as a member of the Equities Management Committee. Prior to Credit Suisse, he spent five years at Lehman Brothers.

David earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was a Morehead Scholar.
