Mr. Rousseau joined the Santander Bank, N.A.(SBNA) Board in June 2015, where he is the Co-Chairman of the Risk Committee and a member of the Nominations and Executive Committees. He was appointed to the Santander Holdings USA, Inc. (SHUSA) Board in March 2017 and is Co-Chairman of the Risk Committee and a member of the Nominations and Executive Committees. Mr. Rousseau served as Chairman of the SHUSA and SBNA Risk Committees until February 2024.

Mr. Rousseau joined the Banco Santander International Board in January 2020 and served as Chairman of the Audit Committee and a member of the Compensation and Talent Management and Risk Committees until August 2022.

Mr. Rousseau served as Vice Chairman of Power Corporation and of Power Financial from 2009 until 2017.  He was also a director of several Power group companies, including Great-West Lifeco, The Great-West Life Assurance Company, Great-West Life & Annuity Insurance Company, London Life Insurance Company, Canada Life Financial Corporation, The Canada Life Assurance Company, IGM Financial, Investors Group, Mackenzie Financial Corporation and Putnam Investments, LLC. He served as a director of the Global Financial Markets Association until 2014.

Mr. Rousseau is currently adjunct professor at Hautes Études Commerciales in Montréal and visiting professor at Paris School of Economics.

He is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec.  Prior to that role, he was the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Laurentian Bank of Canada.  Mr. Rousseau also served as Vice Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Boreal Assurances Inc. and as Senior Vice President of the National Bank of Canada. Previously, Mr. Rousseau was a Professor of Economics at both Université Laval and Université du Québec à Montréal.

Mr. Rousseau received a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Western Ontario.  In recognition of his contributions as an economist, accomplished manager, and involved citizen, he received honorary doctorates from Concordia University, Université Lumière Lyon 2, Université Laval, and Université de Sherbrooke. He was named a Member of the Order of Canada in December 2018.
